And I’m not going to lie, I liked it.

I just discovered what so many others are going through with the INSANITY program. Today’s CrossFit was a little more on the insane side, itself. After our normal warm-up that involves running (a few times), squats, push-ups, pull-ups, a sprint, and stretches, we move onto the strength portion of the class. This is usually where we do some high weight with low reps. Unlike the usual, this workout challenged more than strength.

STRENGTH:
Snatch Complex
15 minutes total, perform exercises on the minute, each minute

1 Power Snatch
1 Snatch Balance
1 Squat Snatch

(bottom-line: do all three moves straight through, then rest, then repeat at the start of every minute.)

This wasn’t bad. It was nice changing the workout up a bit, and using lighter weights to really work on form. I started with a light barbell weight of 55 lb and by the end of the 15 minutes I had increased to 70 lbs. No maxing here. 😉

Then after that lovely workout, we moved onto the Workout Of the Day:

WOD:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Clean & Jerk (65 lbs)
Burpee
100 meter run

(For time, perform 1 clean & jerk, 1 burpee, and 100 meter run. Then, 2 clean & jerks, 2 burpees, 100 meter run, all the way up to 10. Lovely.)

I can honestly say, this was the hardest WOD I have done yet in CrossFit. I was toast at number 9. So challenging, in that I-want-this-to-be-over/screw-this-workout/I-am-powerful kind of way. Ya know?

I finished first, from the group, with a time of 20:25. It felt so good to be done, let me tell you!

I haven’t really done anything “challenging” of late. But in high school we used to do suicides for team sports! It’d be like run suicides, jump rope for 1 min, do pushups, situps, run suicides again. Thinking about it makes me feel tired!

I sure say that was an Insane workout you had! HAHA

Insanity has been the most intense workout we have done, though we are really like high intensity workouts so we are probably going to continue doing high intense workouts.

Sounds like a pretty awesome workout! I tried a kickboxing class two weeks ago (hopefully I can go back next week) that was like that. So insane but it also felt so good! Love me a serious sweaty workout. 🙂
