And I’m not going to lie, I liked it.
I just discovered what so many others are going through with the INSANITY program. Today’s CrossFit was a little more on the insane side, itself. After our normal warm-up that involves running (a few times), squats, push-ups, pull-ups, a sprint, and stretches, we move onto the strength portion of the class. This is usually where we do some high weight with low reps. Unlike the usual, this workout challenged more than strength.
15 minutes total, perform exercises on the minute, each minute
(bottom-line: do all three moves straight through, then rest, then repeat at the start of every minute.)
This wasn’t bad. It was nice changing the workout up a bit, and using lighter weights to really work on form. I started with a light barbell weight of 55 lb and by the end of the 15 minutes I had increased to 70 lbs. No maxing here. 😉
Then after that lovely workout, we moved onto the Workout Of the Day:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Clean & Jerk (65 lbs)
100 meter run
(For time, perform 1 clean & jerk, 1 burpee, and 100 meter run. Then, 2 clean & jerks, 2 burpees, 100 meter run, all the way up to 10. Lovely.)
I can honestly say, this was the hardest WOD I have done yet in CrossFit. I was toast at number 9. So challenging, in that I-want-this-to-be-over/screw-this-workout/I-am-powerful kind of way. Ya know?
I finished first, from the group, with a time of 20:25. It felt so good to be done, let me tell you!
