What a day

Yesterday was literally one of the longest days of my life. Well, that’s being a bit overly dramatic but it was still long, nonetheless.

5:15 am Grab a banana and a few spoonfuls of almond butter, blended up a green smoothie for later, then out the door and off to the gym.

6:00 am CrossFit action is definitely a great way to kick start the day.

I am not in this picture but at least you get visuals with this post…

We did a strength workout of Snatch Complexes. Don’t know what this is? Neither did I. A regular snatch is best shown with this video–> click here Anyway, the Snatch Complex consisted of four different moves done in a row without dropping the weighted bar. After the four moves you get a rest, then repeat the sequence five times, trying to increase weight (if possible for little me) each time.

Snatch Complex 1 power snatch 1 snatch balance 1 overhead squat 1 hang squat snatch

(I managed to use 55 or 60 lbs… this was not as easy as it sounds…)

Then we did the Workout Of the Day:

(4 rounds for time)

  • 5 deadlifts (95 lbs)
  • 10 dumbbell push press (20 lbs dumbbells)
  • 25 double unders (using jump rope)

7:50 am After showering and gettin’ pretty, I drove to the DMV (oh the lovely DMV) to renew (an expired) car registration (oops!). I was thinking getting to the DMV before it opened would be a good idea. I was surprised when I found out this was no secret, as this good idea was shared with every other person on the planet.

8:15 am Scratch the DMV line waiting. I headed over to Whole Foods and ordered myself an Almond Milk Latte- first form of espresso I have had in a VERY long time.

9:00 am Starting work with a caffeine buzz really helps productivity.

3:45 pm Fast-forward in the day: Headed back over to the gym. I had a Business Event scheduled at my gym and it twas time to set up shop. The event was scheduled for about an hour and a half but I ended up leaving at 8 pm! I did a little skin care show-and-tell with friends and members and the turnout was great! P.S. We are still expanding throughout the United States and are on the lookout for leaders interested in helping us for the expansion!

I didn’t take pictures of anything else yesterday, but a few pictures of the event setup were snapped.

8:30 pm Home at last! Sascha, wonderful boyfriend (most of the time ;)) was nice enough to get dinner ready for my return home. He baked a whole chicken (and made sure it was hormone free and veg fed!) with a nice large green salad and a bean, corn, and pea medley.

9:25 pm Post-dinner, I set myself up with some’a this:

Based off of Alton Brown‘s recipe for Macerated Strawberries, I found a winner in the dessert and drinks department.

Macerated Strawberries

  • 2 pints strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1/4 C raw, organic honey
  • 1 t finely chopped lemon zest
  • 1 t ground black pepper

In a bowl combine all ingredients. Let stand in refrigerator for 2 hours. THEN pour generously over a bowl of vanilla coconut ice cream. A variation of this one, that I will try soon, is to replace the wine with port… mouthwatering goodness just thinking about it!

Oh yeah.

10:00 pm Off to bed.

So, that was my day. It was rewarding and tiring at the same time, in many aspects. Hope you enjoyed taking a walk in my shoes for a day… sort of… and I will leave you with a riddle for wonderful Thursday, one day closer to Friday!

RIDDLE: Suppose you had five birds sitting on a wire and three decided to fly. How many birds would you have left on the wire?
