Friday The Thirteenth

Happy Friday the 13th!! What a lucky day it is…

Since it’s Friday, I am tired (CrossFit kicked my butt this morning), and it’s a supposedly cursed day (um, but it’s not… I was born on the 13th- of November- so it’s lucky…), I’m displaying some of my latest eats, 13 to be exact… enjoy. 😉

Starters & Salads

Delicious, crisp, fresh farmers market sunflower sprouts and microgreens swimming in a bowl of chickpeas, black beans, squash, and lettuce

Boyfriend's Masterpiece: Fresh homegrown tomatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper, and fresh basil

Kraut, greens, and hummus, sprinkled with cayenne pepper, sea salt, and cumin. Mmmmmm.
The magical kraut, itself.
Really... it's food you can trust 😉 (it's super good!)

Main Dishes

Freshly smoked salmon
Roasted veggies: fennel, carrots, yellow squash, zucchini, sweet white onions, yellow and red beets. Baked with salt, pepper, paprika, and olive oil.
Then plated with baked (and SUPER juicy) paprika chicken breast and giant salad
Mexican Turkey Scramble: lean ground turkey, turkey "sausage", and veggies, over a bed of lettuce. Topped with Greek yogurt

Baked turkey breast, salad, and roasted root veggies

Sashimi anyone?

I really do love those little fish eggs.

...And Martinis

Desserts & Snacks

Snack of Champions? No? Yeeeeeeees.
Forget Hishire Farms! When I say Apples, you say Almond Butter!

Green apples sprinkled with cinnamon and mesquite powder. Almond butter drizzled with honey. Delightful.
Coconut based ice cream + FRESH cracked pepper = A M A Z I N G
Don't knock it 'til you try it.
Banana Bread (gluten free and fantastic)... Don't you fret, recipe will be coming soon. 😉
More peppered ice cream extravaganza
Vanilla "ice cream", a load of cinnamon, drizzled raw honey, and cracked black pepper
Definitely more cupcake action

And that was probably the most boring post ever, but you got to see some good lookin’ foods… right?

Ok, now it’s your turn. What have you been eating on a regular basis? Is there some dish or food item that you’re stuck on? Mine is my oats in a jar and cupcakes with Twin Cakes Bakery Chocolate Frosting (a MUST MUST MUST try). Not the best choices but whatever, gotta live the sweet life.

Are you superstitious? Do you believe in Friday the 13th being an unlucky day? You broke a mirror… automatic 7 years bad luck? I’m totally not superstitious. If I pass a black cat, I consider it lucky. Same with odd numbers, like the 13th. I like livin’ on the edge that way. Yep, that’s me. The crazy rebel. 😉

And I’m totally not superstitious either, because I was born on May 13th!! I’ve had my b-day a couple times on a Friday 🙂 I always think it’s interesting when superstitions become more like traditions. For example when got married, I had something new, blue, borrowed, and old with me. I did it because I wasn’t superstitious, but because it felt like part of the tradition and it was just fun 🙂 On a side note…I think if you believe bad things will happen then they probably will because you’ll be more on the lookout for them. Probably why the Friday the 13th will always get bad press 🙂 Kind of an interesting thought.

    Have a great weekend Lori!

My bridal shower was on the 13th…I was always fearful of 13 –idk why, it seems kinda silly though!
