Sweet Sips & Southern Comfort

Posted byLori Posted onSeptember 27, 2010 Comments7

Have you ever tasted that one coffee shop drink that changed your life? (Ok, it didn’t really change my life, but I’ll never look at a coffee drink the same way..) The first sip mingled with your taste buds and altered them. Sweet, icy, caffeinated goodness…

I mean, I’ll always have a special place in my heart (and stomach) for green smoothies. I’ll never give those up. But one taste of the Bee Sting, and I was hooked.

  • Rice Milk
  • Espresso
  • Organic Honey
  • Ice
  • Love

These may be the ingredients of what dreams are made of… Or the drink deemed the Bee Sting over at a little coffee shop in the middle of nowhere…

With that cool name and eccentric interior…

The traditional drinks and uniquely inspirational ones…

Your healthy yet amazingly delicious (looking) eats…

How can one not swoon?

The Bee Sting: Espresso, rice milk, lots of organic honey, all over ice.

Elijah Bleu’s House of Coffee & Good Eats in downtown Truckee, California. This place reminded me of the dirty south, only clean and with really good coffee. It also reminded me of… New Orleans…?

Oh yeah, t-minus 72 hours until I leave for New Orleans!!!!!

Thursday is travel day! I’m heading to Louisiana for a little family vaca mixed with a business conference. I cannot wait! So many great places to see and eat at with such little time! Anyone have any suggestions on what to do/see/eat? I’m open to anything… well, with the exception of one thing…

If you could go anywhere for a business conference (or any conference) where would you go?

Have you ever been to New Orleans??

What is your favorite drink? (Coffee or not)

  4. So unfair. I LIVED in Truckee and that place wasn’t there! Mojito Mocha….I can’t read what it says underneath, but I don’t think it matters, its got to be good. Please tell me you got 2 gluten free cookies, right?

And hey – Truckee isnt the middle of nowhere. Err…its kind of close to somewhere. Sorta.

Coffee is my favorite drink. Plain. Or with a little almond milk. I’m a simple gal.

  6. I went to New Orleans back in 2001 for a food industry convention. I wasn’t overly impressed, but I know the city has changed a lot since Katrina. If I could go anywhere at this point in time (limiting to cont. US), I’d go with San Francisco. I love Northern CA!

My favorite drink changes by the week, but lately its Green Jasmine Tea. Unless the kids have been particularly, well, like kids and then I’d go with white wine. 🙂

    Happy travels to you!

That cafe looks so cool, I love little gems like that!
I think my favorite drink was this malt ball hot chocolate I had when I visited my grandmother in belgium last year. It was rich, hot chocolate (belgian hot chocolate!) with whipped cream, and five maltballs emitting their goodness at the bottom!
