The past few days of blog neglect has definitely been food-worthy, regardless of the lack of posts. But not to fear, I have a lot to share with you since my birthday. 😉
To celebrate my 26th year, my boyfriend, little sister, and I ate at Cascal, a Latin-infusion tapas restaurant, and SO good. This place offers some pretty interesting, but amazing, small plates to share, which is the best way to do things, in my opinion- that way you get to taste it all.
Dinner was excellent… but I think I could make a better cheesecake. Not as pretty of course, but I bet I could up the taste rating, plus make it healthier. 😉
And… I was chosen (sort of, along with some demanding), to be one of the lucky taste-testers for Alisa‘s test recipes for some new desserts. And she sent me a birthday card. She’s so sweet, as are her cookies!
I even got the recipes… mwahhahaha! Thank you, Alisa! Definitely great birthday presents!
This weekend I got a chance to make some macarons. These guys are refined sugar free, dairy free, gluten free, and yummy.

There’s so much more to share, like all the great vegetarian/vegan dishes I’ve been playing with, or the Whole Foods Thanksgiving Dinner (also vegan) I attended earlier this week. But all that will have to wait for another post.
For now… I am grateful…
November 18th Gratitude: Cloudy days… I am fan of warm, sunny weather, but at some point there has to be a changing of the seasons. Today, in northern California, it’s cloudy, and a storm is on it’s way. As long as I’m nice and warm, bundled up indoors, I’m cool with the rain.
