A Christmas Presentation

December 27, 2010

She's making a list and checking it twice...

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
ALL creatures were stirring, even the mouse.

Mama Samaan's Christmas Present

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

The stockings were hung with each person’s name,
In hopes they were stuffed with anything unlame.

The adults were nestled all snug, stories they were telling,
While the “kids” hiding out, keeping away from all the yelling.

Sascha, Me, Boyfriend's Dad, Mama Samaan, Boyfriend's brother, Sven, and his girlfriend, Jenn

I got to wear the Antler Hat...

And Mama Samaan in her apron, and I in my dress,
Had just readied our stomachs for a long dinner’s fest.

And that was all I re-wrote, hope you like the poem fix,
for it’s a lot of work, hard thinking, and it’s now time for the pics!

Christmas tradition for my boyfriend’s family includes about 15-20 family members joining in on a five course meal, games, prize-winning, and Secret Santa present-opening. Last year, just like every year, the food rocks (to say the least), but check out this year. Enjoy!

First Course: Arabic Soup

Second Course: Mixed Greens Salad

Third Course: (homemade) Smoked Trout with mango jalepano salsa

Main Course: More greens, roasted potatoes, Arabic rice, mashed peas (which were surprisingly delicious), stuffed roasted pork, and kabobs

Mmmmmmmmmmm....!

And Dessert

Scottish Shortbread Cookies with a warm berry compote

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas/Holiday!

And got everything you wanted…

Looks like a lovely festive time! I love mashed peas (‘mushy peas’ is a specially British thing but I always tended to make them middle-eastern style). Cool to see it on your festive spread.

So fun to see bright, non-snowy outdoors too!
love

That meal looks so good! What a difference from the typical, American-fare Christmas dinner. I wish I was at your Christmas dinner! 🙂
