Morning Banana Cinna-Roll Smoothie

Happy wonderful, maybe sunny, cinnamon-covered, fresh-air Monday! It will be a good day, today. Right? Right.

I hope all of you had an amazing weekend (filled with as much baking as mine did). I’ve had some issues with my blog recently but after a few days, many hours, some wonderful friends who I cannot thank enough, my blog should be working faster and better than ever now! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. You know who you are- both of you. Expect cookies, ’cause cookies are coming. ;)

Ok, with the necessary being said, let’s talk mornings.

I love ‘em. I love everything about them.

I love the fact that I enjoy waking up with the sun (on weekends since there is no sun when I drive to the gym before work on weekdays…). I enjoy having the whole day ahead of me. And I enjoy breakfast like none-other.

My breakfast of choice will always be a green smoothie. The smooth, creamy, icy, blended goodness that is created by my favorite kitchen power tool. I love the variety, the color (um, sometimes), the flavors! Those of you who are religious green smoothie makers too know what I’m talking about.

Bonus points on coming up with yummy-sounding names, wouldn’t you agree?

Banana Cinna-Roll Smoothie

[gluten, sugar, and dairy free, vegan, too!]

adapted from Healthful Pursuit‘s Banana Muffin Smoothie

  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup coconut water (or more almond milk)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds (or nut of choice)
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (or more because cinnamon is amazing)
  • 1 scoop Life’s Basics Plant Protein in Vanilla (optional but creeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaamy goodness)
  • Ice, lots of ice.

Blend all.  Taste. Eat from the blender (does anyone else do this?!). Serve in a cup with more raisins and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Cinnamony, raisin laden, frosty, creamy goodness.

More reasons I love the morning… I love my once-in-a-while almond milk latte from my favorite coffee spot.

It’s probably the most expensive latte in the world, but it’s soooooooo good. Plus, they always give me an extra special touch.

What is the best thing about your Monday morning?

Who can you thank today?

Yum! I love what you’ve done to my sleepy banana muffin!
The best thing about my Monday was my timed trial spin session this morning. I was able to stay steady at 108RPM for 45min which is a huge win for me. I think it may have just made my week! Going now to check out your Date Syrup giveaway. I love that stuff!

I love smoothies. I make mine super thick, so they are more like pudding though. unless I have to make them to go. Then I make them thinner so I can drink them.

I love Monday mornings for the coffee. Actually, that’s every morning.

The smoothie looks/sounds delicious! And I love when they decorate the foam in your latte, not enough shops have this ability in my neck of the woods!

Oh my that smoothie looks CRAZY GOOD! Just like the cake on your blog header :) Your pictures are always so pretty!

Where in the heck can you get an almond milk latte btw?! I had a soymilk one this morning, but that would be a fantastic find at a coffee bar! :) Happy Monday!

Your blog did seem to load up faster.

What a beautiful decoration in your latte–I’d like to learn how to do that! Your smoothie sounds delish too–not a green smoothie, for a change (but I bet you could spinachify it and still have it be yummy).

I’m with you on mornings–love ‘em!

Great recipe! I will try it soon because I have ALMOST all of the ingredients. Just need more chia seeds. I will have to buy them online. They are WAYYYY too expensive at the store.

ps: I noticed (by creeping on Lindsay’s blog comments) that you made the good gut brownies. You said you were going to post about them? How did they turn out??? From your description, they sound wonderful! I made her version, and I am in loveeeee. :)

Lori! I just made this. I watched the post man put the chia seeds in my box, waited for him to round the corner, ran down and got them and IMMEDIATELY made this. It was FAN. TAB. ULOUS. Amazing. I was in heaven. I MIGHT make another one….

Hmm, cookies you say? We LOVE cookies in this house. We love smoothies like this one too! How cool would it be if you could send smoothies to friends? Okay, it’s late, I’m obviously dilerious. I’ll bookmark to make this in the morning when I’m a little more coherent :)

Also.. I am so glad your blog is functioning well now. I am sure that was such a head ache… I hated not being able to comment for a while there!

With the Chia seeds do you let them soak in water first?
