BodyRock’ed Banana Bread

Happy Friday! Happy (official) Tax Day! Have you completed your taxes yet? I just finished mine. Surprisingly, I actually got money back. That makes me a pretty happy camper right about now… even though I still paid too much in taxes.

Fun fact of the day: Almost every single one of you who comment yesterday would have went with mint chip ice cream. Now I know this blog needs more mint lovin’… I love it too. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Definitely noted for future recipes.

I recently(ish) discovered some new (and now favorite) porn workouts! Oh yes, porn. This does have something to do with banana bread, don’t worry, as odd as that does sound.

Ok, so it’s really not a porn workout but I call it that for several reasons. 1) The workouts are from an ex-porn star and 2) The videos of the workouts are porn-esc. Really. They’re actually kinda creepy to watch, in a sort of noncreepy way. I mean, regardless of how incredible her body is, she’s still half dressed in all the workout videos and there’s no music… just her breathing…

If you have no idea what the hell I’m talking about, I’ve been doing BodyRock.tv workouts a few days a week. (Yep, she’s an ex-porn star)

BodyRock videos are short blasts of extreme activity, using mostly just body weight, to really give you a calorie-blasting workout. And they are awesome, challenging, and short. Really short. I’m absolutely loving the workouts. So, I call them my porn workouts. And seriously, her abs are TO DIE for. If this is really all she did to get her body, then I’m sold.

Really....?! WTF?! I want that body.

BodyRock.tv not only provides killer workouts, but diet advice and some clean eating recipes. One in particular I made a while ago and absolutely loved. It’s easy, provides plenty of healthy fuel, and is sinfully guilt-free. Oh, and gluten, sugar, and dairy free, too.

BodyRock’ed Banana Bread

adapted from the bodyrock.tv Banana Nut Cake recipe

  • 1/2 cup protein powder (Lifes Basics Vanilla Plant Protein)
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts (I used raw pumpkin seeds, raw sunflower seeds, raw walnuts)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • stevia to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 1 banana
  • handful of raisins (about 1/4 cup)
  • 3 soft figs, roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast + 1 tbsp lucuma powder (or 1 tsp powdered stevia or sweetener) + cinnamon

Combine the protein powder, baking soda, oats, cinnamon, and nuts/seeds in a food processor and process until nuts and seeds are broken down to your liking. Pour into a bowl and mix in the pumpkin, egg, banana, raisins, figs, and stevia.

Pour into a greased pyrex (8×8 glass baking pan, spreading batter even. Sprinkle your nutritional yeast mixture over the top of batter.

Bake at 375 degrees F for about 15-20 minutes. Cool, cut, eat.

While you’re waiting for the timer to beep done, help yourself to a BodyRock workout. You’ll be sweaty and have scorched tons of calories, all before the banana bread is finished baking. Seriously.

I did this one on Wednesday. But my favorite though includes the following:

  • Kick Over & Knee Raise (alternating legs) for max reps
  • Side Lunge Jump for max reps
  • Reptile Push Up (alternating legs) for max reps
  • Sandbag Clean & Squat for max reps
  • High Knees (jump rope) for max reps

Mmmm, mmmmm, good [workout].

Now that I’ve fueled up, Kelly’s 30×30 workout is on the books for today. Wish me luck!

Random Questions of the Day:

What achievement have you accomplished that has now lost its luster? Actually, personal training. It’s hard to admit, but I had the idea of personal training up on this high pedestal for so long, that now that I’m actually training clients, it’s not quite as glamorous as I once though. It’s still super fun with the right clients but just not exactly what I thought. (especially when you’re 5 am client doesn’t show… not fun then…) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Who has made a difference in your life? Who hasn’t made a difference in my life?! I feel bless each and every day I “talk” or “meet” someone in the blog world. You are all such powerful, creative, motivating, encouraging, inspiring, beautiful women (and men) that I feel lucky to have my blog just to connect to you! And my “real life” friend, Anne. She (you, Anne) have helped me in so many ways. I am so glad we’re friends.

What’s your favorite way to BodyRock… or just rock your body? Duh, weights. I love them. Oh, and cooking and blogging rock my body, too. And happy songs… those make me want to dance… if I could.

  3. OMG! I had no idea that she was an ex-porn star! I’ve checked out a couple of her workouts after hearing other blogger mention her on their blogs, but after a short preview, I usually turn off the computer and walk away with my tail between my legs! Where the hell does she get that endurance….oh, wait…EWWWWW!!

  4. I am very familiar with the BodyRock workouts. I followed them religiously for awhile there, and was eating healthier than Zuzana herself claimed to be eating…my body never came close to looking like hers! Yeah, sadly, I have a feeling she’s been holding out on us as far as what her regular day looks like (both in terms of diet and exercise).

I actually still do BodyRock routines from time to time, but to be honest, I kind of fell out of love with them. I feel like I was disillusioned for a long time and came to my senses.

  5. I had no idea she was a porn star! Porn does a body good, apparently. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Nice post! I’m actually going to check out bodyrock… good for guys? I can probably answer that when I check out the site in a second lol!

  7. Love you, girl!! So grateful for the joy and encouragement you have brought to my life. Cooking has lost its luster for me these days… eating out of a lunch box will do that, though, I guess… ha ha!

  8. awesome post! ive been wanting to try bodyrock for awhile and i think your post has convinced me… and that banana bread looks awessommmeee

  9. I’m just imagining all of the people who will be discover your blog by searching for porn workouts!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve been hearing a lot about BodyRock lately – very intrigued! I love that you said bloggers. I totally agree with that. It’s made a huge difference in my life the past 6 or 7 months.

  10. Porn start turned personal trainer hmmm…interesting! I’ve never done any of those workouts! But the bread sounds awesome. I just book marked. I bet the man would love those (and me too!)

What achievement have you accomplished that has now lost its luster? hmmmmm not sure? Interesting question though. I get bored with group fitness or a specific class every great once in a while, but once I go to a teaching workshop- it fires me right back up!

Who has made a difference in your life? Who hasnโ€™t made a difference in my life?!Great question! Agree with the bloggers sentiment. My parents, husband, family-in-law, and friends have all truly impacted my life for the better!

Whatโ€™s your favorite way to BodyRockโ€ฆ or just rock your body- BODY ATTACK!

  11. If I eat an entire batch of this bread… will I have abs like that? Why don’t I have a body like that? I workout 2 hours a day! Totally.not.fair.

  12. Oh, _you_ need to answer those questions! I like the sound of the bodyrock workouts–can you just get them online? I might have to try a version of that banana bread with my yam trick: still a few weeks till I can have bananas again. But come that time, I’ll probably make this one, it sounds great!

Moving to AK has made a diff in my life, for sure. But so has the Law of Attraction and paying attention to creating my reality consciously (or working to raise that consciousness, at least!)

    Have a great w/e!

  13. Yum that banana bread looks great!!

Like above, there’s no way she eats/workouts the way she says she does though- her diet is like 1200 cals worth of carbs. LOL. And she says she lifts no weights, but there’s no way!

  14. Ooooh I have ALL these ingredients! And I loooove banana bread =D I love banana anything actually. You should dream up and post more banana recipes while you’re at it ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. She’s actually wearing more clothing than normal in that photo, I’ve seen her in FAR less. I still don’t believe that’s all she does, but I am cynical. Tell me what you think of the workout!

  16. Those banana bread bars look so good! I am going to give those a go this weekend. Can’t wait to hear about the workout! ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Yup Id take those abs anyday. My hubby however is not in to that. He doesnt even like Jillian’s muscles, and she is no where NEAR this ripped in the ab department! Im totally going to check out the recipes though because this one sounds awesome! My favorite way to rock my body is water rafting. Seriously, talk about a total body workout! When Im going through rapids it is SUCH a rush too. Love it!

  18. LOL porn workouts.
that bread look so easy to make! i’ve own briefly browsed through her recipes, i’m going to have to go back through ’em ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. That looks less like banana bread and more like a kids Clif Z-bar “protein-i-fied,” but either way, they look delicious. ๐Ÿ™‚
