The First Time… (I decided I was worth it)

The First Time I… Write a post about the first time you did something. What is it? What was it like? What did you learn from it? This is Day 28′s HAWMC prompt.

The first time I…

Decided I deserved everything I wanted from the world, I knew it was true.

Let me explain a bit…

I’ve been doing some “self-work” and really seeing myself as Happy, I have been looking at all areas of my life differently. The Hay House conference really changed my outlook on life and myself. Gratitude journal, affirmation board, “happy books,” positive thoughts and actions, telling myself I deserve everything I want, has made a true difference.

Since leaving that conference, and leaving old thinking behind, I’ve reconnected with some incredible people, made new and inspiring friends, just landed an amazing, life changing job, and am finally believing in myself…

The job background in my life has been varied. I’ve had some great jobs, where I’ve learned a lot, but last year I quit my day-job of 3+ years which had pretty much made me miserable. You can read about it here (because I’ve moved on from it completely and am now joyous I had the experiences there). I’ve been reluctant to put myself out there and believe that I could actually have a career- you know, a “big girl job.” …Until(!) the first time I started believing in me.

I was originally hired by a large Silicon Valley software company as a contractor to back fill some of the duties for the Program Manager while she was out on maternity leave. I was brought in to cover lunches and do some paperwork but ended up taking on just about all of her responsibilities and extra projects. Within 3 months of being there (this all started January 3rd, 2012!), I was approached three times to “get on board” within different areas of the company.

Yesterday I was officially offered a position working with the Senior Vice President of Marketing, along with the Vice President of Social Media in Marketing- as a full time, permanent employee, working for the most incredible, intelligent, and creative minds in the business.

The 3 months that I’ve been with this company, I have learned that you really can love your job. I enjoy going to work each day and enjoy the work I’m doing. I have grown to become friends with my coworkers and enjoy being around them. I don’t love the 20 mile commute that takes over an hour with traffic, but the employee community makes up for it.

So, the first time I realized that I deserved anything and everything I wanted from life, I started getting all of it…

And waffles!

Happy Birthday Mom and Sister!! Love you both!

Yay! Just as you said, you found the way to tell this wonderful story. I could tell from your Hay House conference post that it was truly life changing for you.

Excited for you about your job offer–including social media work, so your blogging experience will be right in line!

I’ve never been a fan of commutes, and a couple time periods during my years in the Bay Area, I had to do it. Shuddersome traffic! I hold the intention that that aspect of the situation will fall out for the best too.
love

So I hear you’re going to the RSA/EMC conference in Las Vegas mid-May – true? If so…well, guess who else will be there?! ;)

This is so awesome. I am so happy for you! It gives me hope that I will either become a doctor (and hopefully love it) or find a job that I love regardless. So much love to you!
